HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene)

 

HDPE is made from polyethylene and offers many basic properties at a cost effective price point.  HDPE is available in a wide variety of textures, colors and chemical compositions.

 

The most outstanding properties are:

· Resistance to cracking, delaminating, splintering, chipping, and swelling

· Does not absorb water

· Easy to machine

· Good impact strength and chemical resistance (most alcohols and ethers)

· Excellent electrical insulator

 

HDPE can be used in a temperature range from –10°F to +180°F.

Color:  White

Temperature Range:  –10°F to +180°F

Tensile Strength:  4,000 psi

Impact Strength:  1.1 ft-lbs./in.

Specifications Met:  ASTM D4976, UL 94HB

Recommended for Outdoor Use:  No

 

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

HDPE offers excellent stiffness and excellent process stability. 

Often used for signage, tote boxes, food containers, and packaging.

An NSF Certified version is available to be used as cutting boards that offer extremely long life.

Sheet: 1/4” to 1” thick

NSF Certified Cutting Board:  1/4”, 3/8”, 1/2”, and 5/8” thick
