Here at MJ May Material Specialists we have machinery that allows us to slit, strip-cut, die-cut, sheet, punch, and laminate a variety of industrial materials. MJ May is your source for the fast turnaround of converted products including a variety of VELCRO® Brand Hook and Loop products. In the near future, we will be adding ultrasonic welding, rotary die cutting, and turret slitter/rewind capabilities.
Sheeting Services
We offer sheeting services on material measuring from .00 inches to .2 inches thick with a minimum length and width measurement of 3 inches. We adhere to tolerances of (±) 1/16 of an inch on widths and lengths. We sheet non-adhesive coated materials as well as materials coated with adhesive on one or both sides. We are also able to insert Kraft paper liners between sheets to guard against the development of static cling or wrinkles while in transport.
Strip Cutting Services
Our strip cutting services allow us to precision cut materials that are less than 3 inches wide to any length. For these services we also adhere to tolerances of (±) 1/16 of an inch.
Die-Cutting Services
Our die-cutting services allow us to custom cut most of the materials we carry as well as many customer-supplied materials. We are able to die-cut common shapes including discs, washers, gaskets, bumpers, squares, and rectangles, with or without adhesive. We are also able to die-cut custom shapes to meet customer specifications. Common sizes and shapes include:
- Circles: 1”, 1.5”, 2”, or 3” in diameter
- Squares: 1” x 1”, 1.5” x 1.5”, 2” x 2 ”, 3” x 3”
- Rectangles: .5” x 1”, .75” x 1.5”, 1” x 2”, 2” x 3”
Lamination Services
We can laminate a wide range of materials up to 60 inches in width and between .001 inches and 1 inch in thickness, depending on the material. We commonly apply adhesives to PTFE, UHMW, and Polyimide films, and Neoprene, Viton, and Buna-N rubbers. We are also able to laminate specialty adhesives to meet customer demand. In addition to adhesives, we often laminate Velcro® Hook and Loop to these substrates to help customers remove them or replace them easily.
Slitting Services
Our slitting services allow us to cut rolls of material from .125 inches to 60 inches wide and from .0005 inches to .060 inches thick. We offer tolerances of (±) 1/32″ or tighter depending on the material and can slit material with or without adhesives. Some of the materials we most commonly slit include Velcro® Hook and Loop Products, PTFE, Kapton® (polyimide), UHMW, high-temperature fiberglass, PTFE Coated tapes, and other high-performance materials.
Our converted products are packaged in standard or premium plastic zip-closure or heat-sealed bags. All products are labeled with the appropriate part numbers and product descriptions.
